Daley Urges State to Increase CTA Funding... Finally

Chicagoist is saying, "It's about friggin' time, already!" this morning. Mayor Daley has finally decided to join the CTA's ongoing, well documented effort to obtain additional transportation funding from state legislators, and last night joined Evanston Mayor Lorraine Morton and Oak Park Mayor Joanne Trapani in an earnest supplication.
Daley acknowledged the CTA's role in maintaining a healthy economy for the Chicagoland area, and even mentioned those of us (like Chicagoist) that have no car, and depend on the CTA for getting... well, just about anywhere. Officially, the City Council approved a resolution asking the General Assembly to increase funding for mass transit in northeastern Illinois, and also to retool the outdated funding formula for the entire Regional Transit Authority. Sounds so familiar, we know... but if that squeaky wheel really gets the grease...
Now, we just wait, and try not to remember what may happen if this expected bailout doesn't come through...
