Chicago's city council unanimously voted in favor of the proposed Wrigley Field expansion. That means that when the team begins play at the "Friendly Confines" in 2006, the historic park will have a different appearance.

The park enhancements will add 1,790 bleacher seats, a 100-seat restaurant overlooking center field and a five-story building and parking garage next to the ballpark. That building will include retail space, a restaurant and 400 parking spaces.

The new bleacher configuration is expected to be ready for next season. Fans have mixed reactions to the addition of seats and ammenities in the outfield. Some hope it'll make it easier to obtain bleacher tickets and the added revenue will allow the Cubs to spend more on players. The beer sales alone should be enough to keep Nomar around! Others, however, worry that the atmosphere of the park and neighborhood will change. Guess we'll find out, because the plans are definitely moving forward.
