Uh. Yeh. Right. But ABC 7 did have a groundbreaking on it's new state-of-the art studio on State Street yesterday. Included in the new studio is a huge sidewalk window where people will be able to get an look behind-the-scenes of ABC 7's broadcasts.

The construction is slated for completion this fall and will also feature a 40 foot curving video sculpture with LED technology providing various scrolling images... and a bunch of hi-res LCD plasma screens will let ABC 7 broadcast current programming and live tapings. ... and ALSO there will be a video ticker banner to present the day's headlines and important community announcements. Is it just us or does it seem like ABC 7 Chicago is trying to replicate it's counterpart in NYC which is LOCATED IN TIMES SQUARE. Hello. State Street IS NOT Times Square but after adding all these LCD, LED, plasma ticker thingamaroos it's gonna start to look like it!

Ok, so maybe not. But what Chicagoist isn't looking forward to is the crowds of tourists that are bound to gather at the windows and block up our path down State. Outta the way, people, outta THE WAY.

Update: A reader points out to us that on Wednesday CBS 2 announced that they reached an agreement to relocate to Chicago's infamous Block 37 where they'll also have a street level studio with large eavesdropping windows.
