Today is "Day of Silence," a youth-led day of silent protest to draw attention to anti-gay violence in schools. Partipants go without speaking throughout the day and then all meet up tonight in a "Night of Noise" at the Thompson Center.
Tonight's event features various youth groups like About Face Youth Theatre, and teacher training on LGBTQ youth issues in Chicago Public Schools.
In response, the Illinois Family Institute has announced plans to protest the event.
Chicagoist would say more, but well, we've already spoken enough.
