Neil Diamond Tickets Onsale Today

By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on May 9, 2005 1:44PM

Tickets go on sale at 10 AM this morning for Neil Diamond’s August 1st show at the United Center. Of course, alert2005_05_09_neil.jpgChicagoist readers have already had their first crack at tickets for Neil’s first world tour in four years in The Chicagoist Neil Diamond Contest. We’re giving away three pairs of tickets to three lucky winners. Tickets for this show are expected to sell out so save yourself the trouble of standing in line and check out our contest page instead for your chance to win.

The Neil Diamond promotional machine kicked into high gear this morning with Neil appearing via satellite on WGN Morning News. In an interview with Dean Richards, Neil admitted he once contemplated changing his name to Eice Charry, which he pronounced as “ice cherry.” It’s almost a stripper name, but not quite. And that kinda shit gets you beat up in Brooklyn so it was back to the D before his recording career began in earnest.

If you’re working the ticketmaster.com angle to score tickets this morning, you can flip on The Ellen Degeneres Show at 10 AM on NBC 5 for some accompaniment. Neil will be appearing on her show though it’s probably too much to hope that he performs “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” with fellow guest Felicity Huffman.

And just in case we haven’t pimped it enough, don’t forget to enter the Chicagoist Neil Diamond Contest. If you miss out on tickets, you'll have to settle for this guy. For more tour info, check out neildiamond.com.
