Ask Chicagoist: Ou Est Les Europeans?

paris-photo.gifHaving lived in Europe several times, I'm going through withdrawal. Where do I find cute Europeans in the Windy City?

Signed,
Europhile

Dearest Europhile,
Mon Dieu! Mein Gott in Himmel! Scarpe Rosse! Europe is HUGE! And so is Chicago. But we know what you mean: once you dig that orange pants/crazy glasses combination (on ladies and gents!), there’s no goin’ back. But, your question is soooo sprawly and open-ended (unlike the compact, picturesque lanes of Ye Olde Europe), we decided to open this one up to Our Dear Readers for some of their priceless feedback.

But first a few ideas: Chicago is chock-a-block with historically-you-name-it 'hoods, where you might still find a few from the Old Country. Start there. And lots of Europeans eat cheeses and pastries with reckless abandon (while remaining oh-so-thin?!), so you may find your desired object(s) debating asiagos at a place like Pastoral. And we hear that Bin 36 is a good bet for vino. (If anyone finds Schioppetino, please notify us at once!)

Meanwhiles, there’s a gazillion international groups exercising their Freedom to Assemble, right here in Chicago. You can peruse an extensive list on the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations' Chicago Page.

OK, Readers! Now its your turn: anybody European? (We know you're all cute.) Where’d you go for a Campari and soda last night? Or, anyone hopelessly Europhilic and ready to tip their beret to help out our friend?
