Chicago Schools Stink? Rule?

First for worst, here's the stinky news - Some new stats released from the National Student Clearinghouse say that fewer than half of last year's Chicago Public Schools grads are in college. The national average for college attendance by high school graduates is 64%, but the report says only 46% of last year's CPS graduates enrolled in college.

Some local principals, esp. the ones from Chicago's elite college prep schools say they don't think the study is right. For example, the study lists 85% of the grads of Northside College Prep as being in college, but the principal there says that actually 95% is the correct rate.

And the good high school news - Newsweek has named Lincoln Park High School as not only the best high school in Chicago, but the best in the state of Illinois, and of the top 100 best in the country. Overall, LPHS ranked #31 in the United States. Not bad. So we're hoping the study above would say that more than half of the graduating students at LPHS are now in college?
