Action Items
By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on May 19, 2005 1:01PM
There have been three things on our music-loving minds this week:
1. The dearly departed Delilah’s sign and awning covering
A plastic replacement sign showed up above Delilah’s this week but it’s a poor substitute for the Manichean shingle and reclining nude mural that hung above its humble door all these years. Damaged during a recent storm, there are no plans to replace them though Chicagoist would volunteer to put together a benefit show if asked.
2. Horizontal Action show
Empty Bottle hosts what is usually one of the year’s best live shows, the Chicago Blackout 2005, hosted by rock zine Horizontal Action. Time Out let us know that advance tickets ($15) are still available for tonight’s lineup but Friday and Saturday are sold out though some additional day-of tickets will be sold.
3. Billy Corgan solo show tickets
Tickets go on sale to the general public tomorrow at 5 PM for Billy Corgan’s upcoming solo tour and personal Independence Day. Instead of his beloved Metro, he’ll perform at the Vic on July 5th and 6th. Some tidbits about Corgan’s solo album have been leaking out for the last few weeks. Adopting the grammatical conventions employed by such luminaries like matchboxtwenty and limpbizkit, Corgan has titled his new album TheFutureEmbrace. It streets on June 21st. Stereogum posted a track from it last month and Pitchfork followed with a track listing, which includes a duet with The Cure’s Robert Smith. No, seriously. They team up on a cover of the Bee Gees “To Love Somebody”, presumably because the rights to “I Started A Joke” weren’t available.
