Thousands of leather-clad visitors from all over the world will descend on Navy Pier to see who is crowned Mr. Leather 2005.

Tonight's opening ceremony at the Hyatt Regency kicks off festivities. Mr. Leather will be crowned on Sunday, but dozens of events throughout the weekend will keep even the most dominating leather lover satisfied.

Before you don the chaps, you'll want to brush up on your leather etiquette.

While Chicagoist has never been to IML, we hear that the Leather Market is rather tame and is probably welcoming enough even for those readers who regularly shop at Eddie Bauer.

The event has grown from about 400 leathermen in 1979 to more than 13,000 visitors last year.
