Rush Bummed

2005_06_sports_EtuMolden_chiRush.jpgThe Chicago Rush, our arena league football team, came up short in their bid to play in the Arena Bowl XIX, losing 49-43 to the Colorado Crush in overtime.

Overtime was delayed for 15 minutes because of the premature ejection of confetti by a stadium worker. When Colorado intercepted the ball with 6 seconds remaining, confetti was shot on the field signaling a Crush victory. However, a penalty negated the pick and returned possession to Chicago. After clearing some confetti, Rush kicker Keith Gispert made a 17 yard field goal to tie the game at the end of regulation. But before the game could continue, the confetti had to be cleared entirely.

In the sudden death overtime, the Crush scored first and won the game to advance to the Arena Bowl. But was there any confetti left to celebrate when they actually won?
