Again, A Busy Weekend

Wowowowow. The weekends are filling up like crazy and our summer is already running out of control. If you're like us you're already planning into August and booking flights for Labor Day weekend and watching your summer fly by! If you, by some miracle, don't have anything for this weekend check out these local fests:

Jeff Fest: This is the nickname for the Jefferson Park Community Festival. Known as the "Gateway to Chicago," this neighborhood fest features music, beer and food.. eh.. like all the fests. June 24 - 25

Chicago Country Music Fest
: Just what the name suggests, this festival is taking place inside the Taste of Chicago festival and features country music. LeAnn Rimes and Clint Black are the big headliners. There's also classes on how to line dance between acts. Line dancing should be ironically cool by now, yeh? June 25 - 26

Fountain Square Arts Festival: This free Evanston art fest is in its 26th year and features 280 artists' exhibits. Seems like a great way to distance yourself both physically and mentally from Taste/Country Music Fest. June 25-26

I Hear the Music in the Air Community Gospel Festival: Eh.. as opposed to hearing music in the .. uh.. ground, right? Kidding! THis fest takes place in Moore Park and features a full day of traditional, contemporary and modern gospel songs. June 25

Taking It To The Streets
: Sponsored by the Innter-City Muslim Action Network, this is a daylong festival held every other summer in Marquette Park. Thousands of people from all over teh city get together for a day of festivities, music, sports tournaments and carnivals. There's also health & legal clinics and activists and community leaders conduct workshops in English, Spanish and Arabic. June 25

And of course there's Pride, Taste of Chicago, NextFest, and MOBFest, but those are going to be covered in seperate Chicagoist posts!
