Pick It, Pack It, Fire It Up

Oh it's not a good day to be a stoner in Chicago.

Illinois Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan announces that those who yearn for the taste of hemp in handy sucker form are SOL and then we learn that the Chicago Police Department have seized enough weed to chill out the entire Loop and then some.

First, Chicagoist has little to say about Madigan and her crusade against New Jersey-based company ICUP, Inc. to get them to stop selling their Pot Suckers, hemp-flavored lollipops, other than we are just juvenile enough to appreciate the company's name and with a name like that nothing should surprise you.

Moving right along ...

In what began as a routine traffic stop ended up with the cops searching the homes of two men and landing the CPD a multimillion-dollar pot bust. Say that with us again: multimillion-dollar pot bust. That, friends, is a shitload of weed.

According to the Trib
, it's 555 lbs. of marijuana bricks confiscated at the home of Joel Vasquez-Torres valued at $3 million and it's also $200,000 worth of marijuana plants at Cesar Garcia's place. Turns out when Garcia was pulled over he didn't have a valid driver's license. When searched, the cops found an ounce of cocaine and the rest spirals from there.

Chicagoist has always wondered: if you're going to be dealing in the business of illegal drugs, especially on such a grand massive scale worth so much cash, wouldn't you at least make sure your bases are covered? Things like having a valid driver's license? Morons all.
