Des Moines Isn't So Bad...

Thing just aren't going right for the Cubs lately. Looking like a playoff contender heading into the Cubs-Sox series, the Cubs remain winless in July and have fallen 4 games under .500. Hoping to shake things up, the Cubs sent both Corey Patterson and Jason Dubois down to the minors, where they'll join the AAA Iowa Cubs. Don't worry guys, they've even got an Olive Garden in Des Moines now!
Patterson had been Dusty Baker's starting center fielder all season while hitting leadoff for much of the season. But he has hit just .168 with one home run since June 1st. Cubs fans have clearly given up on Patterson, and it's certainly it harder to get out of a funk when even the fans in the Friendly Confines aren't so friendly anymore.
Dubois had been platooning with Todd Hollandsworth in left field of late, with Hollandsworth getting more and more time as Dubois has proven able to reproduce his hot April hitting.
To replace the two outfielders, the Cubs called up Matt Murton and Adam Greenberg from AA West Tennessee. They'll be the ones wandering around Wrigleyville after the games looking up at all the tall buildings.
