Chicago Plans Terrorism Drill

By vouchey in News on Jul 13, 2005 5:32PM

OEMCheader.jpgComing quick on the heels of last week's London bombings, the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications has announced a biological outbreak "exercise" for Tuesday, August 23. Not much information is being released about the planned drill, but 500 volunteers are need for the whole day, they get free lunch, and the priviledge to ham it up as an infected member of the populace.

This not the first time Chicago has run a bioterror drill. Back in 2003, Chicago and Seattle both participated in a nationally hyped exercise run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Even though the drill was deemed a success, there's always need for more drills, and Chicago seems to be setting the bar for preparedness.

A copy of the volunteer flyer can be found here, e-mail or call (312) 747-9630 to volunteer.
