"...but the flower bed was ravaged" !!

2005_07_carcrashmichave.jpgWe told you yesterday that bikes aren't really allowed on the sidewalk, but we thought it was just common knowledge that the same rules apply to cars! The title of this post is the funniest line we've read all week in the Trib. It's in reference to the car accident yesterday in which one car ended up on the sidewalk of Michigan Avenue. Apparently "no one was seriously injured, but the flower bed was ravaged." Gasp! Flowers! Dead!

The incident occurred at about 6:30 last night when a Honda heading north on Michigan tried to turn left on Ontario (by Ann Taylor) and hit an Audi. The collision forced the Honda up onto the sidewalk , THROUGH that tiny little iron flowerbed fence, killing dozens (?) hundreds (?) of flowers, and injuring one tree. The horror.

Seriously, though. The driver of the Honda is damn lucky no one was hurt or she'd be in even bigger doo doo. Right now she's just got a busted up car, a citation for making an improper turn, and the death of some flowers on her conscience.
