2005_07_sports_frank_thomas.jpgWell, it looks like the White Sox have lost Frank Thomas for the rest of the season due to a fracture in the same foot he injured last season.

Missing the second half of last season and the first two months of this season, Thomas rejoined the team on May 30 -- hitting .219 with 12 HRs and 26 RBIs in just 105 at-bats. While he didn't have the opportunity to get into his usual hitting groove, his power certainly revitalized the Sox offense in a number of games.

On the Disabled List since July 21 with pain in that same foot, today's news that Thomas is likely finished for the year comes at a critical point for Sox GM Kenny Williams. With the trading deadline only 3 days away, he had been focused on trying to upgrade the Sox pitching. Now does he have to add another bat? Will that be in addition to or in place of pitching? Maybe Carl Everett is enough at DH now that Ross Gload has returned. Should be an interesting couple of days...
