Free Stuff: RipIt Digital Giveaway
By Scott Smith in Miscellaneous on Aug 30, 2005 5:04PM
Love your iPod but too lazy to import all your CDs into iTunes? Then this is the contest for you.
RipIt Digital is a Chicago company that makes it easier for you to convert your CDs to digital files for use in your iPod or other portable device. While Chicagoist doesn’t mind spending a weekend sitting in front of a computer, we know not everyone has such nerd-like tendencies. So if your MP3 player is still sitting in the box (shudder!) waiting to be loaded with your KISS boxed set, RipIt Digital can help.
For a buck a CD, RipIt Digital will convert your CDs into files ready for importing into your MP3 player. They offer pickup and delivery services at an extra cost but they also have a free mailing service and a drop-off location in the city (with suburban locations coming soon). While you’re carrying on with your busy life, RipIt Digital will convert your CDs into digital files and give you a copy of them on a DVD, which allows you to quickly load them into your iPod or MP3 player via iTunes or whatever program you choose. If that sounds like too much work, then for a little bit extra, RipIt Digital will load up your player with music and even teach you how to use it.
We were most impressed by their customer service. Handing our precious, precious music over to someone else made us a little nervous but the folks at RipIt patiently answered all our nagging e-mails. RipIt converted 50 of our CDs (even the scratched ones) and had them back to us in just a couple days. When we were unable to import just one of the files due to an error, we e-mailed RipIt about it and they offered to drop off a corrected DVD right away.
Now for the free stuff: RipIt Digital is giving away a $50 gift certificate to three lucky Chicagoist readers. Sign up after the jump for your chance to win. Contest ends Friday, September 2nd. Winners will be notified by e-mail.
