2005_09_07_baxter.jpgIf life were a movie, would you be the dashing romantic lead or the one people think of as “nice” and “sweet”? If you identify with the latter, The Baxter may give you hope.

The Onion and IFC Films present The Baxter, a romantic comedy for anyone who’s ever been dumped. It stars Michael Showalter (Stella) and co-stars Paul Rudd (The 40-Year Old Virgin) and Michael Ian Black (Stella, Ed).

It’s the story of Elliot Sherman, the kind of guy who’s more often the dumpee, not the dumper. Practically an archetype in rom-coms, he’s The Other Guy who gets left at the altar while the ingénue runs off with the handsome gent from her past. But there has to be a woman for him out there somewhere, right? The movie hits theaters this Friday, September 9th. You can watch the trailer here or check out some bloopers.

Chicagoist is giving away three prize packs to three lucky winners. Each winner will receive a Baxter t-shirt and a Baxter soundtrack, featuring Rufus Wainwright, Amy Miles, Craig Wedren and other sensitive and introspective folks. Contest ends this Friday. Winners will be notified via e-mail. Sign up to your chance to win after the jump.
