Contest Guy - Photo: comtech2000.co.uk The title pretty much says it all, folks. Enter here for your chance to win a whopping 3 swell books from Picador. The free shipping alone is worth the win--and you get books! Nice, solid, long books that you really won't want to end. You have until 3 PM today. Winners only will be notified by email.

You need not win a contest, though, to see authors James McManus, Stuart Dybek, and Jeffrey Eugenides live and in person this evening. They'll be reading, Q'ing and A'ing starting at 6 PM at the Harold Washington Library.

In case you've just tuned in, James McManus is a longtime Chicagoan, professor at the School of the Art Institute, and bestselling author of Positively Fifth Street, which details his surprising sucess at the 2000 World Series of Poker and a coinciding murder trial. Stuart Dybek, Chicagoan by birth, is the acclaimed author of The Coast of Chicago, a former One Book, One Chicago selection, and the dreamy 2004 bildingsroman-in-stories I Sailed with Magellan. Jeffrey Eugenides is a recent transplant to our fair city as well as the author of the Pulitzer-prize-winning Middlesex, which covers three generations of a Greek immigrant family through the eyes of a rather unusual narrator.

Clearly, we can't say enough about these guys. We're thrilled that they call Chicago home, and we hope you'll swing by the Harold tonight to show them some Windy City love.
