Don't Feed the Performers!

Bloodshot Records has teamed up with Farm Aid to bring music to the farmer's markets around the city next week. These performances are early, and we all know the early bird gets the best produce. All shows are free and are scheduled as follows.

Devil in a Woodpile plays sometime between Noon-1:30 pm (Chicagoist didn't think they'd be able to get up by 10 am.)

If it's too hot to cook the fresh produce procured at these farmer's markets, check out Fresh From the Family Farm occurring September 9-17. Twenty Chicago restaurants have teamed up with Farm Aid and local farmers to provide locally sourced or certified organic items in special dishes to benefit Farm Aid.

Another note regarding donations for the victims of Hurricane Katrina: Bloodshot will donate 5% of September's web sales to Americares, a non-profit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization, that provides immediate response to emergency medical needs. So get shopping!

Farm Aid also has the Family Farm Disaster Fund set up to help farm families survive weather-related disasters and there were a lot of farmers affected during Hurricane Katrina. Visit their site for more info and to donate.
