Wherein Chicagoist Offers, In Our Own Way, Support To The Homeboy

2005_09_INXS_final_3.jpgYes, tonight’s the night. Tonight is the moment of truth for local Lovehammer Marty Casey. Will he or won’t he front INXS? Our previous views on this subject have elicited their fair share of comments and we expect what we are about to say next to do no less.

We really hope he doesn’t win.

In the first place, we still think the jig is up and the fix is in and Mig has been the frontrunner from the get-go. However that’s not why we hope Casey loses. We still stand by our criticisms of his Chicago based band but considering the development, both vocally and in the arena of rock and/or roll star stage presence, we believe that Casey is ready to come back and bring his mates up to speed, thus lifting them out of the rut they've been in for so long. Secondly INXS needs to face the fact that they're going nowhere without Michael Hutchence as their lead singer. So ultimitely Casey is much better served with the chance to take his newfound fame and parlay it into a career that might have legs beyond the next media cycle before everyone forgets all about INXS…again.

Marty, you’ve done a great job and even melted the steel cage that surrounds Chicagoist’s heart so believe that we mean you the best when we say we hope you don’t win this particular contest so you can all you've learned to actually go on to win the war.

UPDATE: Okay, so we were off with the Mig prediction but we were right on otherwise. Especially if INXS stays true to their hint and offers The Lovehammers an opening slot on their tour.
