826CHI, a non-profit organization, supports students with their writing skills and helps teachers inspire their students to write. David Eggers’ writing center hits Chi-town! Help them pay their security deposit by attending a show at the Metro Sunday evening. For ten bucks, we will be entertained by Archer Prewitt, Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, Babyteeth, and Watchers.

826CHI may sound familiar if you’ve ever wasted time at McSweeney’s. They offer programs that strengthen students’ power to express ideas effectively in their own individual voice. (Chicagoist gets they’ll never be able to write here with that kind of empowerment, but we’re sure they will have blogs up and running soon.)

They will have free tutors available at their new center located at 1331 North Milwaukee Avenue slated to open on October 13th. Other programs offered at 826CHI include field trips, workshops, and the publishing of student works.

But the main thing is that they are planning a great show at the Metro. Let’s help with the security deposit and get tickets for the 7:30pm show on Sunday night.
