Chicagoist Around the Town

2005_10_blogger_dilemma.jpgThis week Chicagoist will be making a couple appearances on panels on blogging. If you're interested in hearing more about the blogging process and a bunch of nerdy mumbo jumbo (not to mention watching us try to be serious and not make fools of ourselves), you should check it out.

First off, tonight, we'll be participating on a discussion about Writing for Blogs. This is a showcase of the Independent Writers of Chicago (IWOC) meeting. Networking starts at 5pm, the meeting starts at 6pm. There will be some IWOC business to take care of first, then the blog nerdery will follow that. Also on the panel will be Brent Brotine, who writes a column on the corporate use of blogs and has authored a course on public relations, and Larry Bodine, who is an Internet (and blog) legal expert. Attendance is free to all IWOC due-paying members, but will cost $15 for nonmembers and the meeting is being held at the Chicago Athletic Club, 12 S. Michigan Ave, 7th Floor Lakeshore room.

Then on Friday morning, October 14, Chicagoist will be participating in a blogging breakfast discussion hosted by Business Wire. Breakfast.. meaning you'll have to get your butt there by 9am! People in Communications, Public Relations, Investor Relations, Media Relations, Community Affairs, Government Affairs, Non Profit Directors and the like from all industries are welcome and need to email or call to RSVP and attend - bwcg.bwcg@businesswire.com, 312-223-1037. It's unconfirmed, but we've heard that someone from Obama's blog is going to be there. This meeting's being held at the Chicago Title buillding at 161 N. Clark (Randolph and Clark) on the 28th floor.
