DrunkenBatman (and posse) at the Adler Planetarium

Last Friday, Chicagoist's favorite Mac blogger, DrunkenBatman hosted a conference for Mac developers and enthusiasts deep in the bowels of Adler Planetarium. He brought together ten panelists and over a hundred audience members for an evening of talking about the types of things Mac developers and enthusiasts can't get enough of. (How do you tell the difference between writing software as a hobby and a job? Will the Objective-C programming language last another decade? And so on.)
The genesis of the event began several months ago when the local Michigan Ave. Apple store invited DB to speak. Not long after, the invitation was withdrawn without comment. A lesser Mac geek would have been simply gone on with their life, but DrunkenBatman managed to scrounge up some local Mac love and he ended up putting on an even better event in a larger venue, with more speakers, and more audience.
Chicagoist attended the event and unlike most corporate-sponsored conferences and panels, we were impressed with the speakers, their content and thoughts, and the job that DB did as the M.C. for the evening. We got to hear all about how to market a small Mac app, whether or not pointer-based languages are dying, and what it's like being in the trenches pumping out applications like VoodooPad, Delicious Library, and NetNewsWire.
After the event, the mob of Mac geeks migrated to Jak's Tavern on Jackson. Sources tell us that the revelry of geeks around PowerBooks and White Russians went well into the morning. Did you ever hear of any Windows fans having so much fun?
