A little word association. When we hear "knitting" we think "ball of knots." Hot glue gun? Burned fingers. Handsaw? Lost limbs. Chicagoist is not a crafter. But luckily, many people in Chicago are.

This weekend they'll be selling their goods at the DIY Trunkshow at the Pulaski Park Auditorium. But don't be mistaken. When we say that this is a "craft show" we're not talkin' bout country blue, ceramic angels, snowman poop, or wooden geese on a stick for putting in your yard. We're talking about cool crafting... alternative crafting.. stuff you would actually buy and wear or put in your house. And YOUR house, not your grandma's house. There will be more than 85 local artists presenting their work .. check out the participant list to see the kind of awesome things you'll be able to get your hands on.

Also, Chicagoist is excited to hear that not only will they be selling stuff at the DIY Trunkshow, but they'll also have workshops where we can actually learn to craft ourselves. At 10am there's a free collage class, at noon a $2 class on chainmaille jewelry and at 2pm a free class on knitting, taught by bitches who stitch... eh, or something like that. .
