Bowling For Rockers

Tomorrow night at Seven Ten Lanes in Hyde Park, the DJs of WHPK 88.5, the University of Chicago’s campus radio station, will host a four-hour evening of music and bowling.

Chicagoist checked its Hipster-O-Meter this morning and apparently bowling registers a 7.8, which puts it above “flipping up the cuffs of your jeans” and just behind “building a cult following on MySpace without actually playing out in a club somewhere.”

The free event is co-sponsored by Radio Free Chicago, a blog that covers the Chicago music scene and is run by some WLUW radio jocks. It’s the North Side meets the South Side! Sadly, there probably won’t be a rumble though perhaps someone will get drunk enough to sing “When You’re A Jet” from West Side Story.

Though the event is free, you will have to pay to bowl and drink though there’ll be specials for both. The evening lasts from 8 PM to midnight. Bring your ID as it’s 21+.
