You Want Power-Ups With That?

Today at 11 AM, the McDonald’s at 600 N. Clark (nee The Rock and Roll McDonald’s) will serve as the launch party for Nintendo’s Mario Kart DS and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

2005_11_14_mariojeremy.jpgMario himself will take time out of his busy ‘shroom-ingesting schedule to appear along with Ronald McDonald, as customers with a Nintendo DS system compete against Nintendo game programmers and others from around the world in a Mario Kart showdown. The Nintendo Wi-Fi connection will be available in over 6,000 McD’s restaurants around the country.

Chicagoist remembers the days when McDonald’s color scheme and furniture was created specifically to make it LESS likely for people to make a leisurely meal out of their Filet-O-Fish. But more and more Mickey D’s are being remodeled to resemble restaurants that don’t serve toys along with their meals. Whether any more McCafe’s open here remains to be seen.

Perhaps Mario would be willing to consult with the Mayor to help get that citywide Wi-Fi network off the ground.
