Send Your Car Questions Here

2005_11_mphblog.jpgDave Thomas, who used to run Chicago-based Autoblog (not this Dave Thomas or this Dave Thomas), has a new venture. It's still based in Chicago, still online, and still very much about cars - he's the online editor for MPH-online. We took some time today to check the site out..and while we admittedly aren't that into cars, since we rely on public transit to get us around the city, we must say that we thought the video Q&A is pretty cool.

2005_11_mphvid.jpgThis is how it works: A car comes in and a post is made that MPH-online will be reviewing the car. Then people write in and ask questions about the car that's being tested. MPH then answers the questions with video clips, via YouTube.

So.. like MPH is reviewing the Pontiac G6 GTP Coupe and you wonder, "How's the visability out of the back of the car?" Write in and Dave will use the videocam to tell you how well he can see behind him while driving and he'll also show you what the view looks like and warn you about the big blind spots. Just one example of how it can work.

We can see how this would totally be useful for some things, like documenting how a car sounds or looks while driving, things that can't be captured by still photographs and we like how the site decided to push it a bit, partner with YouTube, and bring us content in another medium. Very forward thinking.

2005_11_youtube.gifAnd YouTube is an awesome site, if you haven't heard of it yet. Like a million sites do for photographs already, YouTube lets you upload, tag, and share video clips. Which is awesome because now you can send your friends a link to YouTube and tell them to stop clogging up your inbox with video clips of little Susie talking for the first time or taking her first steps.

One more thing, if you don't have a car and aren't interested in them, you might still stop by the site to admire the banner ads with hot mamas. Who doesn't like a half-naked, busty chick on a car?
