Dance Chicago, the uber-showcase of rising dancers, choreographers and companies, continues through December 4 at venues throughout the city. The Athenaeum Theatre hosts three more weekends of eclectic fare, particularly with tonight’s Dance Everywhere program of Caribbean, Spanish, Turkish and Indian styles among others. There’s a professional Best of New Dances showcase and an American Idolesque Dance Slam, paring down 60 young acts over three nights into a “Best of” evening November 29. They’ll celebrate Thanksgiving weekend with Jazz Fusion and end with a grand (and apparently still in the works) Finale.

Most tickets range between $18-20, but for cost conscious (read: cheap) dance fans, the Dance Slam is only $5 and the Best of Dance Slam is only $10. Buyer beware, you may end up getting what you paid for.

Dance fans in Skokie and Orland Park, take heart. You'll be treated to the Dance Chicago Tour next January.
