Swimming: The New Favorite Sport on the Kennedy Expressway

2005_11_water_kennedy.jpgWas anyone driving down the Kennedy early today when all of a sudden, "Oh, hey.. look. I knew I should have taken the boat this morning and not the car!"

The northbound interstate near Grand Ave was closed after it was flooded by about 4 ft of water when a water main broke just after midnight. Pretty much everyone bailed out of their cars and waited by the side of the road til the water went down. Somehow no one was injured and the mess was all cleaned up by rush hour.

Images on the local news sites are pretty crazy (ABC, CBS, NBC) and this one at MPH Online is oddly beautiful.
