Topinka on Tour Today

2005_11_topinka.jpgState Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka, who says she can "take out" Governor Blagojevich, will be touring the state today to officially open her campaign for governor. She plans to stop in Cicero (where she grew up), Peoria, and Marion before heading over to Springfield to wrap things up this evening. Lots of driving, we hope she has AAA.

Joining Topinka will be the popular former governor, Jim Edgar, who was thinking about running again but decided not to. Topinka, smartly, has brought Edgar on to be her campaign chairman and help put together a kickass political team to get her elected. Says Edgar, "She has demonstrated the ability to reach beyond her solid Republican base to attract independents and thoughtful Democrats to support her. It's something we Republicans must do to win in Illinois."
