Chicagoist In Review: Smokey McCancerstick Edition

By Scott Smith in Miscellaneous on Dec 19, 2005 1:44PM

Few things are certain in this world. But Chicagoist readers getting riled up about smoking is one of them.

2005_12_19_weekback.jpgEven in posts only tangentially related to the newly-passed smoking ban—like this one on Illinois’ #3 rating for worst overall air quality—you’ll find someone blaming smokers. This week, expect prosecutors in George Ryan’s trial to name Joe Camel and the Marlboro Man as unindicted co-conspirators.

Death was also a hot topic this past week as the investigation into the Southwest Airlines crash continued and some guys on snowmobiles engaged in a little bit of yuletide Darwinism.

But as the temperatures drop, we’re also concerned with comfort food: specifically, Baked Cheetos, glögg, and tater tots. Other topics that had you talking included gay cowboys, the deal making by the Sox organization, and the second coming of Jesus. It’s also good to know that the Kill Hannah street team is doing such a good job.

Finally, keep those Chicagoist-tagged Flickr photos coming. One of our favorites this week was this postcard-ready picture of the Chicago Theatre in full winter wonderland mode.
