Good Thing They Weren't English Teachers

Chicagoist isn't one to really point out other people's typos and spelling mistakes, since we're pretty well known to make more than a few ourselves.. still we had to kind of snicker at the latest spelling snafu over at the Chicago Public Schools yesterday.
About a hundred CDs that contained information for math teachers to prep students for the ACT were passed out with the title "ACT TEST PERPARATION" . It's not preparation.. it's not perspiration. It's perparation. And it looks as though the title is in the Comic Sans font. Great! The Comic Sans is more offensive to us than the typo itself.
Marty Gartzman, the Chief Officer of the Office of Math & Science for the school system, says "big deal." You know.. it's the useful information on the CD that counts not the title. Apparently some teachers disagree, saying that as soon as the mistake was noticed the CDs should have been pulled and redone. If we've learned anything here at Chicagoist, it's that you guys freaking hate typos.. and you really can't get to the content and meaning of anything if you've got a misspelling staring atcha.
