Construction began on Block 37 in November, but it was still uncertain as to who would be filling the space. CBS 2 confirmed it was headed there and the CTA was building an underground station for express lines to the airports, but other than that, no solid plans.

Now we know that Morningstar has signed a 15-year lease with The Mills Corp. (the Block 37 developer) for office space. Morningstar will occupy 210,000 square feet over 8 floors and will be the largest tenant in the planned office tower. In March 2008, when the building is complete, the company will be moving their offices from their current location at 225 W. Wacker Drive.

The Block 37 building will be 16 stories tall. So, Morningstar is taking 8 floors, that leaves 8 floors. CBS is taking the bottom 5 floors. That leaves 3 floors of office space up for grabs. Since CBS will be at street level, you might be wondering how people will know Morningstar is in the building. Morningstar plans to establish their identity by adding another logo to our skyline. There will be a big ol' Morningstar sign at the top of the building, on the Dearborn side overlooking Daley Plaza. Also, on the Washington side, closer to street level there will be a large "financial information display."

We're hearing that The Mills might be sold off, but if they are it shouldn't affect the development of Block 37.
