Joey "The Clown" Soon to be Joey "The Convict"?

2005_05_joey_clown.jpgThe FBI has been searching for the reputed mob boss Joey "The Clown" Lombardo for 9 months, ever since he and 13 others were charged with plotting at least 18 Chicago murders dating back to the early 1970s. Last night Lombardo was captured in Elmwood Park and taken into custody without incident.

The FBI doesn't know where Lombardo has been for the last 9 months, but they've been looking all over the world for him. Funny that he winds up being right here.. or is it? Lombardo wrote letters to his attorney and to US District Judge James B. Zagel while on the run and all of those letters had local postmarks.

Also interesting - Lombardo was caught as the FBI was running surveillance on another "person of interest" and found the two of them meeting together. So was the FBI actually on Lombardo's trail or did they find him by accident when going after someone else?
