Kanye West: Crushing You With Metaphor

By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 24, 2006 8:36PM

We were sitting here minding our own business trying to take a nap until one of the other Chicagoist writers pointed out that Kanye West is on the cover of Rolling Stone this month.

2006_01_jesuschristkanye.jpgJesus Christ pose, indeed.

Isn't it enough for Kanye to act like he's up on the cross without having to look like it too? And also: shouldn't you have to experience a drop in record sales or acclaim in order to paint yourself as a martyr? Just sayin'.

In the RS interview, Kanye claims to have hurt feelings. Why? Because you, America, "want me to be great, but you don't ever want me to say I'm great?" Moreover, West claims to once have been addicted to porn after viewing a Playboy for the first time at the age of five. Similarly, Chicagoist has become addicted to rolling our eyes every time Kanye gives an interview wherein he says something like this: "My misery is your pleasure."

Future plans for Kanye include appearing at the Grammys, being more talented than you and and turning water into Sparks.
