Cartoon Update

Last week we told you that the student newspaper at the University of Illinois, the Daily Illini, took a bolder editorial stance than pretty much any other Western paper with the publication of the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that have sparked riots around the world.
Monday, the Daily Illini apologized.
Today we find out that the editor-in-chief of the Daily Illini and his opinions editor were “relieved of their duties.”
What will tomorrow bring?
Reasonable people disagree over the propriety of publishing these cartoons. And it seems that the editorial decision-making process at the Daily Illini is more complicated than one might guess without reading the articles.
But what’s really going on here? Isn't the answer to hateful speech more speech?
