Pouring Your Heart Out

2006_02_pinot.jpgIt's no secret that Chicagoist is a teeny bit of a wine snob, if by "snob" you mean "knows enough about it to pick a bottle based on virtues other than it has a pretty label."

We love wine and we especially love mixing it with things ... for instance, with a good cause. After all, if we're going to be drinking, let the drinking be done to benefit someone else rather than just ourselves and the amusement of the barkeep.

On Friday, Feb. 24, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Chicago Commons hosts Pour Out Your Heart for Commons: Wine tasting, silent auction and “The Sideways Effect on the World of Pinot Noir,” a talk by Alan Gordon, 25-year Senior Wine and Fresh Food Buyer for Marshall Field’s; Wine Consultant William Gibson will also lend his expertise to the evening with all proceeds benefiting Chicago Commons.

Chicago Commons was founded in 1894, to build well-being in individuals, families and communities in areas of the city where the needs are greatest and the resources are fewest. It serves 35,000 clients annually in child development, adult education and senior care programs.

Pour Out Your Heart for Commons will be held at Belmont Station, Chicago Yacht Club at Belmont Harbor, and is $100 per person; RSVP by February 20, 2006 to Sue G’sell at (773) 826-4256 or gsells@chicagocommons.org
