Greetings From Sunny Florida

As debate raged on late last week about whether a 14-year-old Ecuadorian girl was rightfully denied admission to Elmwood Park High School, the girl in question was busy not giving a shit. The Tribune caught up with the girl’s family in South Florida, where she has been living since the ordeal began last fall. After a relative told her the school had finally given in and she could now be an Elmwood Park Tiger, she said, “Like I would want to go back there.”
Identified as Sharon M., the girl is reportedly having way too much fun going to the beach, texting her friends and dancing to reggaeton to care much about the flurry of controversy she had sparked hundreds of miles away. She’s also attending high school.
The family is concerned about all the attention leading to her deportation, but they are happy the Elmwood Park School District will no longer question students about their immigration status. The district’s policy of denying students on B-2 visas lasted about four years, resulting in one or two students being turned away.
We're sure you've got more opinions to share on this one. We know you won't let us down.
