This Week In Stupid

Some weeks the people of our fair city amaze us with the sheer quantity of forehead-slapping, spitting-coffee-all-over-the-keyboard stupid news items they produce, and some weeks we start to believe the town is inhabited by only Boy Scouts and PhDs. This week is one of the latter, but we managed to dig a few dumb tidbits out of ye ole RSS reader.
On Tuesday, a car veered off the Edens and crashed into a house in the 6300 block of North LaCrosse Avenue. The driver was a 24-year old Skokie woman who, according to witnesses, had been playing cat and mouse with another car on the expressway, cutting each other off while traveling at about 90 mph.
On Friday, the city sent a cease and desist letter to a real estate agent after he sent letters to homeowners around Midway, telling them that the airport wanted to acquire their land as part of an expansion project and that they should list their homes for sale with him. There are no plans for Midway expansion of course, and the agent now has to issue retraction and apology letters.
Also on Friday, police arrested a man who tried to sell Viagra to two undercover officers at the Clark and Division CTA train station.
Finally, a man was arrested after he punched a bus driver on the Cermak #21 bus near Western Avenue. But the fun doesn't stop there: while he was handcuffed on the bus awaiting transport to the police station, he kicked an officer in the groin. Later at the precinct, he kicked another officer, causing him to fall and hit his head on a steel toilet in a holding cell, then he head-butted another officer who came to the rescue.
