Chicago Wine Map

2006_02_winemap.jpg The Google Maps API program has led to folks mapping the most arcane and insignificant minutiae (is there a Google map of places where Tucker Max has been a drunken ass yet?). Here at Chicagoist we've told you about Drink Town and the Chicago beer map, which -- depending on your priorities -- are either the greatest things since sliced bread or two more reasons to stay in.

Tyler Colman, the educator behind the wine web site Dr. Vino has used the Google Maps API to map Chicago-area wine stores. Upon our first look at the screen capture we thought that area wine stores must have a north-side bias. Then we figured we could blame Google, which has its own problems finding the soft, chewy center of major metropolitan areas.

Clicking the pushpins on the map you'll see that Colman has provided a description of the store, its vitals, and a link to that store's web site, where available. It's a great resource.
