Cookie Dreams Do Come True

Starting this weekend, look for peddlers of highly addictive substances to be prominently displaying their products at various grocery stores, banks and churches throughout the city. And don’t be surprised if you find yourself in line, waiting for your fix. Yep, it’s Girl Scout cookie time.

If you’re like Chicagoist, this time of year makes you wonder if city life is really for you. We start to imagine a quieter suburban existence where the smell of freshly cut grass floats through the air, parking is a dream and every year like clockwork those adorable neighbor girls come by to deliver our favorite treats. No, wait, it’s just our low blood sugar talking. We need those cookies, and fast.

The Girl Scouts feel our pain. That’s why they’re setting up shop around the city over the next two weeks. If you’ve been dreaming about Thin Mint goodness all year or craving some gooey Samoas, here’s your chance. Tagalongs.jpgEven more good news for Tagalong addicts: your favorite chocolately, peanut-buttery cookie has zero grams of the dreaded trans fat. So you don’t have to feel so guilty about eating an entire box in one sitting. The rest of the cookies aren’t so “healthy” – unless you’re a fan of the reduced-fat Lemon Coolers – but we know that won’t stop you from packing away a box or three. It certainly won’t stop us.
