Ask the Chicago Fire

03_06_06_guppy.jpgHave you been wanting to ask the Chicago Fire about their inaugural season in the Bridgeview Stadium, about their pre-season success or what it will be like starting the season on a long road trip? Well, if you don't have Fire President and CEO John Guppy on speed dial, here is your chance to get answers to your questions straight from the top.

Fans of the Chicago Fire have the opportunity to participate in an online chat with Guppy on Wednesday at 1 p.m CT. Questions can be submitted in advance through the Chicago Fire website.

Guppy's experience is not limited to Marketing and Sales; he has great experience on the field as well. In his younger days, he spent several years playing in the developmental system for Southampton FC of the English Premier League. When he came to the states in 1986 he attended New Hampshire College where he was a two-time 1st team All-American. Chicagoist appreciates the irony of a Brit being named an All-American, but we digress.

He was the captain of the team the year they won their only NCAA National Title in 1989. Instead of playing for the Dayton Dynamo of the National Professional Soccer League who drafted him out of college, he went on to earn a Masters in Sports Management from University of Massachusetts at Amherst before starting a career dedicated to marketing soccer.

Chicagoist looks forward to asking some questions during the online chat. We would love to get his take on the so-called "Beckham Rule" and hear how he thinks the 2006 draft picks are developing.
