Sears Tower: No Photos Please

chicagoist_2006_03_searstower.jpgThe Tribune reports that police and federal investigators are looking into an "incident" in which three men, "got out of their car and appeared to be studying the 110-story building and taking photographs." The horror! We can't imagine why anyone would ever take pictures of the Sears Tower other than to plan a terrorist attack. The article goes on to mention that the car the men were driving had been rented under a fictitious name, which we admit smells a little fishy, but we can also think of a half-dozen less-threatening reasons why someone wouldn't want to use their real name when renting a car.

Chicagoist proposes a social experiment: we'd like carloads of people to stop at the Sears Tower, take pictures, video, and copious notes, then drive away and report the reactions of security to us. Mix things up; come back multiple times, gesture wildly, get into arguments, etc. We're particularly interested in the racial makeup of the group, and whether this affected the reaction you solicited from security. Post your findings in the comments or email them to us, and we'll report them here.
