A Clarification

Regarding yesterday's post "A Requiem for Puffer's", we were contacted by the Puffer brothers this morning regarding the tavern's prospective sale. They wanted to clarify that the sale is contingent on the new ownership obtaining a liquor license - a process that the city Liquor Control Commission does not make an easy one - and that if they cannot obtain one, the bar will remain as Puffer's for the foreseeable future. Furthermore, Puffer's will not, as we wrote, "close its doors at the end of the month", and they'll be serving their loyal customers for the foreseeable future.

Chicagoist apologizes for the omission and the inference that the sale of Puffer's was a completed deal. That said, you still need to go visit them, as it is a great tavern.
