Ravinia Releases Summer Schedule

We here at Chicagoist sometimes get caught up in the latest, fastest and shiniest things, but every once in a while it's good to remember that there are old standbys that deserve our attention as well. Ravinia Festival released their summer schedule and from the CSO to jazz to blues, country and rock there is most definitely something for everyone. It's always nice to head out of the city with a picnic basket and a blanket to enjoy some entertainment with friends.
This year's line-up has what we have come to expect with dates featuring Tony Bennett, Cheap Trick, Lyle Lovett and Bonnie Raitt, but adds fresh faces the Steve Miller Band, Etta James, Amy Grant, and newly inducted hall-of-famer Blondie who shares the slot with the New Cars which features Todd Rundgren (tickets already on sale for this event). Other shows sure to sell out when the rest of the season's tickets go on sale April 20th via Ravinia's website are Elvis Costello and the Imposters, Indigo Girls, Trisha Yearwood, Buddy Guy and Hootie and the Blowfish.
Ravinia has set up a blog and podcasts to keep us informed as well. Be sure to check those out for previews of what they have in store. We know it's hard to dream of summer when there's snow dusting the ground this morning, but checking out the full schedule after the jump could help.
