Transitions

As we returned to the Chicagoist offices this morning, after much imbibing of eggs and beans of jelly, we were reminded that it is indeed Monday, the world keeps on spinning, and for some, it is time to ask and receive.
First thing this morning we found this email from Transitions Bookplace. We find ourselves to be a little too much on the realist side of things to spend alot of time at Transitions, but we're impressed by the wealth of events and speakers Transitions has to offer. After reading their story about how Transitions Bookplace began, we're even a little envious we didn't follow our bookstore dreams like they have.
So we thought we'd share this with you, because no matter what, no one wants to see a bookstore shut down to make room for another nail salon or ATM outlet.
April 16, 2006Dear Friends,
In the 16 years since Transitions Bookplace opened, we have helped thousands of people, perhaps even you, when they faced a critical time in their lives. Our books and gifts have provided gentle support to so many Chicagoans during their times of growth, need & grief.
We know there are other places that sell books, but I am writing to you today because Transitions needs your help. We need more people coming through our doors. We need you to come to our store and buy a book, two books, or even better, a stack of books!
Please come and rediscover Transitions Bookplace before the end of this month or we will not be able to continue serving the “transitions” needs of the Chicago community for very much longer.
Yours in peace and love,
Gayle Seminara MandelOwner
