Painting the Town

Paintballers from around the country will be painting Chi-town in all sorts of colors this June. The 2006 Chicago Open Paintball Tournament returns to the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Center in Bolingbrook, June 21-25. The tournament is the second-largest event of the year for the Paintball Sports Promotion organization. This year's event is expected to exceed last year's 2,000 players, and will have more than $125,000 in cash prizes.
The tournament is broken down into many divisions and variations of the game (5-man, 10-man, etc.). The top division is the National XBall League (NXL), comprised of 10 teams including our very own Chicago Aftershock.
Chicagoist is new to paintball so we decided to see what the Chicago paintball scene is like. We were surprised to find the Chitown Series, comprised of a variety of local teams that play across two divisions. They compete seven times this year, and the next tournament is scheduled for May 7th at The Badlandz.
Chicagoist prefers you go postal with paintballs rather than bullets. So if you are looking for a stress reliever check out the Aftershock's Player Clinic at the Badlandz Saturday, May 6th, and the the tournament on the 7th.
