Chicagoist is going to make a prediction. The next big, quasi-sport in the U.S.? Sumo! Those strong man competitions just aren't that much fun unless watching them drunk, and aren't we all getting a little sick of watching Texas Hold 'em? Come on, it's OK to admit it ...
Competitive Bridge isn't going to be filling the airwaves on ESPN2 anytime soon, but they have begun televising Sumo. Just last night, ESPN2 televised the World Sumo Challenge. And soon, Chicagoans will have an opportunity to take in the sport live.
The World Sumo League is coming to Chicago on May 27, at the AllState Arena. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday (4/28) at 10am.
Some of the females around the Chicagoist seem to like the idea of men in little outfits getting all sweaty, hoping for wardrobe malfunctions, etc. They've even bandied about the idea of a "girls night" that would include manicures and taking in the Sumo competition. Yet when we men in the Chicagoist office question when the next Jello wrestling event is being held, we get dirty looks?
