Oh, the Places You'll Go!

If you’re like Chicagoist, every now and then, you get the feeling that you’re a little too stuck in your routine. We live in this great big city, and yet more often than not, our existence is limited to our own little corner of it and the places we pass through in our daily commute.
Lucky for us, Great Chicago Places and Spaces is less than three weeks away. The annual celebration of the city’s architecture and neighborhoods offers more than 200 free walking, biking and boat tours. Tickets can now be reserved online (with a $3 reservation fee) for the event’s Great Excursion Tours.
The early birds have already snatched up all boat tour spots, including the Architecture River Cruise hosted by Geoffrey Baer (we heart his Channel 11 specials). But there are still plenty of spots available for walking tours such as Louis Sullivan: Lost and Found, Zoka Zola's Home & Studio, and Restoring Mies’ Masterpieces. Check out the event’s Web site for a full listing.
Us? We’re planning on celebrating Mother’s Day a few days late with Dim Sum and the walking tour of Chinatown.
Great Chicago Places and Spaces will take place May 19-21, with tours offered on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21. Registration for Event Day Tours will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the event’s headquarters – the ArchiCenter (224 South Michigan). Early arrival is recommended.
